The Ibiza Convention Bureau joins international MICE tourism day

The Ibiza Convention Bureau (ICB) has organised an event to celebrate Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) 2019. For the first time, the Convention Bureau is joining the celebrations and events in which professionals from the meetings and events sector worldwide will participate. In 2018, over 200 events were held in 41 countries around the world.

To celebrate this occasion and to strengthen their support and work within the events tourism sector, the member companies of the Ibiza Convention Bureau gathered at Ibiza's Sir Joan Hotel for a networking session.

During the day, the forty or so attendees representing part of the 52 companies that comprise the ICB took part in a graffiti workshop organised by the High Fidelity Collective in partnership with Hosh, a well-known Ibiza graffiti artist. Through this novel activity, the attendees left their imprint in the form of their company logo on a panel created especially for the occasion to symbolise the partnership of the companies that make up the Ibiza Convention Bureau — and their collective endeavours to position the island as a flagship destination for the organisation of meetings and events.

Following the success of two MICE Pride Day events in Spain in 2014 and 2015, several international organisations involved in the industry set up the Global Meetings Industry Day partnership. The aim of this initiative is to create a community among, and give a voice to, the professionals working in the meetings and events industry. Under the banner "Meetings Mean Business", this event was planned to showcase the impact and importance of the business tourism sector for people, businesses, and communities throughout the world.
