The Ibiza Convention Bureau celebrates 7 years in operation
On 15 November, the Ibiza Convention Bureau (ICB) held an event to commemorate seven years in operation. The celebration took place at the OD Ocean Drive hotel, and was attended by representatives of the Bureau's associated companies as well as policy decision-makers - including the Island's Director for Tourism (Vicente Torres), the Councillor for Tourism at Santa Eulalia Town Hall (Carmen Ferrer), as well as those with responsibility for tourism at the Eivissa (Ibiza Town) and Sant Antoni Town Halls (Gloria Corral and José Antonio Ferragut, respectively). Around fifty people attended in total.
The ICB's position is overwhelmingly positive, as it has doubled the number of its associated companies since its inception, with 54 companies currently making up the Bureau. Furthermore, it boasts an ever-expanding range of new services and a high professional standard.
The Chair of the Ibiza Convention Bureau, Szilárd Kóvats, encouraged all those involved to continue working in partnership to increase the island's volume of trade in the MICE sector, and to continue striving to become a first-class destination for meetings and events.
The ICB was set up in 2011, under the umbrella of the Organisation for the Promotion of Tourism on the island of Ibiza to address the burgeoning meetings and events industry, and the concomitant need to establish a specialist body for this segment of the market. ICB is a public-private entity which was developed with special cooperation from the Town Hall of Santa Eulalia del Río.
