Ibiza Convention Bureau joins several international sector associations

Ibiza Convention Bureau has recently joined two of the sector's leading international associations: MPI and SITE. With this, the island's Convention Bureau is expecting to create new business networking opportunities and take part in promoting and expanding the MICE industry.

MPI (Meeting Professionals International) is the world's largest meetings and events industry association. Founded in 1972 it has more than 17,000 members spread across 90 chapters and clubs in 19 countries. The global MPI community represents more than 22 billion dollars of purchasing power.

The Ibiza Convention Bureau will be a member of the Iberian Chapter, the new name under which Spanish and Portuguese professionals are grouped together. The new title replaces the previous Spanish Chapter, which has 130 members and was set up in 2006.

Owing to the importance of the incentives sector in Ibiza's MICE activity, the Convention Bureau has decided to also join SITE. Founded in 1973, the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) is a non-profit organisation set up by tourism industry professionals specialising in events and incentives. It currently has more than 2,000 members and 29 local chapters. The mission of the global community of SITE members, representing 84 countries, is to strengthen and inspire this extraordinary industry.
